DAVID JOHNSON, MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
David is a native of Baton Rouge, LA. He graduated from Louisiana Tech University. Since college, David has received his Registered Health Underwriter and Group Benefits Associate credentials from the American College and The Wharton School respectively.
David’s first job after college was in the Management Trainee program for First National Bank of Shreveport. After one year, David moved to Nashville where he was employed by a division of the Principal Financial Group as an Associate District Manager. David moved with Principal several more times opening their offices in Mobile, AL and Washington, DC. While in Washington, DC, New York Life hired David to establish their DC presence. Three years later, David moved to Orlando, FL where he became the Executive Director of a HMO. David’s experience continued to grow as he was hired by United Healthcare, eventually moved to Little Rock, AR and then back to Nashville. In his last position with United Healthcare, David was their Key Accounts Vice President covering TN and AR.
David left United Healthcare in 2005 and began an employee benefits consulting firm – Virtus Benefits, LLC. Virtus has grown to include a claims analytics solution, technology, wellness, telemedicine, and exchange division, benefiting employers aligned with Virtus to flatten the cost curve. Virtus’ goal is to connect companies with innovative solutions that positively impact the lives of their employees and families while mitigating the rising cost of healthcare. As a full-service EB firm, we align with employers that strive for value in their employee benefits and wish to have them positioned as an investment rather than an expense.
David is very active in the Nashville community from an industry, civic and religious perspective. He is on the Board of the Downtown Nashville Rotary, Chamber of Commerce, Catholic Charities, and Mary Queen of Angels among others.
David has been married for 25 years. He and his wife have three children: Wesley, Joanna, and William. They reside in Forest Hills.
