Scott Gilmer is Vice President of Policy & Advocacy for the Beacon Center of Tennessee where he leads policy and research efforts and oversees government relations for its advocacy partner, Beacon Impact. With broad experience in public service and educational leadership, Scott was appointed chief of staff for the Tennessee House of Representatives by former Speaker Beth Harwell in 2012. Subsequently, he served in the same role for current Speaker Cameron Sexton. Most recently, Scott served in the private sector where he helped governments obtain greater efficiency. Before joining the Tennessee House as a policy analyst and later serving as Director of Policy and Research, Scott worked in higher education. Gilmer holds a bachelor’s degree in communications and political science from the University of Tennessee at Martin and a master’s of public policy from Vanderbilt University.
