Expanding Opportunity: The Future of Education in Tennessee
Join us for the first installment of Beacon’s new quarterly webinar series!
The Beacon Center of Tennessee has long advocated for the rights of parents to choose the education that best fits their children’s needs. In 2019, Beacon led the way in enacting a school choice program designed to help students in underperforming school districts and–along with Institute for Justice and EdChoice—represents parents in defending the program in court.
Earlier this year, Beacon championed the state’s first universal school choice program, which was signed by the Governor in February. This program will enable thousands of students to take advantage of educational opportunities tailored for their unique learning styles, including options provided by innovative “edupreneurs.” The work is not done. According to a report by Beacon’s policy team, regulatory red tape has made Tennessee a laggard in educational freedom.
This webinar will discuss the importance of educational opportunities for all students, review Tennessee’s universal EFS program, and explore ways to empower more entrepreneurs to provide innovative educational opportunities to students in Tennessee.
